Research Focus:

Janet McIlvaine began working at the Florida Solar Energy Center in 1990. She specializes in energy use simulation and design assistance. Since 1995, her work with Habitat for Humanity has influenced the design and construction of over 500 affordable houses. Since 2000, she has been working with home manufacturers and builders under the Department of Energy's nationwide Building America program. In 2001, she assisted with and certified Florida's first official Green Home built by Fallman Design and Construction, a Building America partner. The home also received recognition as an NAHB Energy Value Housing Award winner.

Ms. McIlvaine's presentations and papers strive to help professionals, building owners, and students develop energy intuition.
