Research Focus:

Principal investigator (PI), co-PI or major role in numerous buildings and HVAC monitoring and audit studies. Currently PI for monitored A/C system sizing study that compares energy use and indoor conditions before and after changing out oversized A/C systems with properly sized units. Also recently PI for national school conditions study involving a comfort conditions survey, conditions audits and several retrofits. Other projects have included roofing studies, developing a high school energy curriculum and a subdivision scale Heat Island study.

Lead role or active involvement in numerous published residential research studies. Lead energy auditor of 100+ homes (including building and duct system air tightness testing). Also extensive experience performing home energy ratings, energy use analyses and AC system sizing for EPA Energy Star program and other research studies.

Significant teaching and speaking experience on residential building topics such as building science, building performance testing, energy efficiency and system sizing to contractors, industry organizations and the general public. Continuing as co-instructor of FSEC's Florida Energy Gauge Program Class 1 Rater Training and EnergyGauge Pro Hands On courses.
