Habitat for Humanity Partnership

The FSEC and Habitat for Humanity partnership—formed in 1995 at Habitat’s Environmental Initiative Kickoff—has brought technical assistance into the design, construction, and evaluation process of over 500 Habitat homes across the nation, built by dozens of Habitat for Humanity affiliates in more than 20 states.

Affordable housing should be affordable to live in, not just affordable to buy. Energy efficiency and building science measures for safety, durability, and indoor air quality help reduce long-term costs.

Check out the case studies below to see how Habitat for Humanity partners build performance affordable homes. The first three showcase recipients of Department of Energy Housing Innovation Awards.
