Weatherization, also known as weatherproofing, protects a house from the weather and it also helps reduce energy costs by increasing its energy efficiency. To ensure quality and safe weatherization practices, Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) inspectors require training. These Florida weatherization instructional videos supplement face-to-face instruction.
Instructional Videos
The instructional videos below show testing methods that weatherization inspectors need to perform in order to determine the appropriate weatherization measures needed, and to ensure the safe operation of a house. Florida weatherization instructional videos include:
- Initial Safety Check
- Zonal Pressure Testing
- Blower Door Test
- Pressure Pan Testing
- Door Closure Effect
- Stove and Dryer CO Tests
- Water Heater CO Test
- Combustion Appliance Zone (CAZ) Worst Case Depressurization — No Fireplace
- Combustion Appliance Zone (CAZ) Worst Case Depressurization — With a Fireplace
Intended Audience
Previous attendees of FSEC’s Florida Weatherization Inspector Training.
Initial Safety Check: The steps shown here should be performed prior to any other testing.
Zonal Pressure Testing: This test determines the location of the air barrier — or in other words, if the zone is “inside” or “outside.”
Blower Door Test: This test determines the air tightness of the building.
Pressure Pan Testing: This test evaluates the duct system and determines if there is duct leakage.
Door Closure Effect: This test determines if a pressure relief mechanism (i.e. jump duct) is needed when a door is closed.
Stove and Dryer CO Tests: This test determines if the Carbon Monoxide (CO) level is safe when the appliance is in operation.
Water Heater CO Test: This test determines if the Carbon Monoxide (CO) level is safe when the appliance is in operation.
Combustion Appliance Zone (CAZ) Worst Case Depressurization — No Fireplace: This test determines the worst case depressurization scenario of a house without a fireplace.
Combustion Appliance Zone (CAZ) Worst Case Depressurization — With a Fireplace: This test determines the worst cast depressurization scenario of a house with a fireplace.
