President and CEO
Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP)

Jennifer Szaro is president and CEO of the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP.) She joined AESP in April 2020. AESP is dedicated to improving the delivery and implementation of energy efficiency, demand-side management and demand response programs.

Within her current role, Jennifer focuses educating and empowering AESP’s members on such topics as energy efficiency and conservation, demand response program design and implementation, demand flexibility strategies, grid edge technology deployment, beneficial electrification and demand side focused customer engagement strategies.

Prior to her current role, she served as Vice President of Research and Education at the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), where she led her team in the development of cutting edge industry research and thought leadership as well as in the creation of educational offerings for SEPA’s membership base.  She also acted as a subject matter expert and business advisor on multiple topics including: Community Solar, Integration of Distributed Energy Resources, Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, Storage Technologies, Customer Analytics, PV Asset Management, Bundled Utility Customer Offerings and Behind the Meter Technology Aggregation.

Prior to SEPA, Jennifer spent nine years as Renewable Energy Manager for the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) leading their renewable energy, corporate sustainability and electric vehicle programs and conducted applied photovoltaic systems research for eight years as Senior Energy Analyst for the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC).

Jennifer holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in Environmental Science and Chemistry from Florida International University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Central Florida. She has served on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations, including: SEPA, the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), the Florida Renewable Energy Association (FREA), Project Get Ready Central Florida and Drive Electric Florida. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and currently sits on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the UCF College of Engineering and Computer Sciences.
