I have a large piece of property in Florida that I want to install solar panels on. Can I do this?

If you plan to use the power generated from the panels to power your home, then yes you can. If, however, you only want to generate electricity to sell it back to the utility grid, you can only do that if the local utility company agrees to buy your energy. Florida utility companies are required to buy electricity at the lowest possible cost, and the lowest cost may be more than what it costs you to install the solar system, so it may not be worth doing. Florida law prohibits the sale of third party electricity, so you can’t sell the electricity to your neighbors either. Check out our Energy Policy page.
